(Calie Stephens, 12/03/03) Dallas is a city that has potential to be world-class, but over time it has somehow lost vision and commitment. The high crime rate in our city is the result. A decade ago, New York City found itself very much in the same situation.
The new mayor of NYC was facing a city with the highest crime rate in the nation, an exodus of businesses & citizens and a record deficit. By concentrating on crime and quality of life issues, Rudolph Giuliani created a virtual renaissance that has seen New York City go from the "crime capital of the nation" to the "safest city in the nation" in a few short years.
